How We Designed Our Magnesium Supplement

So why TRI MAG? Through our extensive research we realized that there were over 10
different types of magnesium including:

  • magnesium chloride,
  • magnesium glycinate,
  • magnesium threonate,
  • magnesium bicarbonate,
  • magnesium citrate,
  • magnesium malate,
  • magnesium oxide
  • and elemental magnesium just to name a few.

This list becomes very confusing and its hard to figure out which is the best for every person. They all have their advantages and disadvantages.

Our intention was to design a product that would have the most benefit to the most
people. Our first focus group was designed to see what types of products everyone was taking
and find out WHY they were taking these products. The types of products people were taking
was all over the board, literally every type. Next we focused on WHY people were taking
magnesium, this is where we drew our inspiration.

We found most people were taking magnesium for:

  • energy,
  • depression,
  • anxiety,
  • sleep,
  • digestive issues
  • and heart health

Based on feedback from the focus group and other message boards on social media we narrowed down our search for the WHY and focused on WHICH type or types of magnesium would be best and balanced for everyone.

In considering our formulation, we of course placed highest priority on the magnesium
ion itself. After all, most people aren’t deficient in bicarbonate. Some of the other types of
magnesium have interesting properties and help get other beneficial proteins and vitamins to
different parts of your brain and body.

These are magnesium Threonate, magnesium glycinate and magnesium chloride. Coincidentally (or not) these are the three types of magnesium in TRI MAG. I’ll explain a little about each type and why we chose them.

Magnesium Chloride

Magnesium Chloride, the simplest of the magnesium complexes. MgCl2 it’s the most
ionic form of magnesium and has the highest absorption rate of any of the types of magnesium.
This makes up the bulk of our supplement and is a reason for our high magnesium content and
some of the salty taste.

It’s recommended by the NIH and given to patients who are magnesium deficient in a clinical setting. For your cells to absorb the magnesium it must be completely by itself (not complexed with anything) and then its small enough to fit through the “pores” in your cells. Magnesium Chloride does this most efficiently and is one of the easiest forms for your body to get deep into the cells.

Magnesium Glycinate

Magnesium Glycinate, begins to be more of a complex yet still has a high absorption
rate and helps to bring the amino acid ‘glycine’ to your cells. For the magnesium to be
absorbed into the cell the glycine still needs to be “broken off” but after this occurs you now
have glycine floating around in solution outside of the cell.

This protein helps to add to the relaxing effect of the magnesium and helps with your digestive system and nerve pain. Glycine is also necessary for your body to make collagen, creatine and glutathione. Collagen, which helps with skin muscle and joint health. Creatine which is huge in muscle synthesis and glutathione which helps your immune system and therefore helps with energy and digestion. Some of the ailments our focus group had mentioned.

Magnesium Threonate

Finally, and a big reason for the premium cost of TRI MAG is the MIT developed
Magnesium Threonate. This is the hottest form of magnesium on the market today. This form
of magnesium is the best at crossing the blood brain barrier. It is magnesium complexed with a
form of Vitamin C that helps draw it into the brain. It has been proven to structurally reverse
certain aspects of human brain aging.

This is used primarily to improve mood, anxiety, cognitive disfunction, relieve depression and improve memory. There are tons of recent human studies proving the effectiveness of this type. And even thought the cost is high we decided it would be worth while to have in our supplement to treat not only your body but the all-important mind!!

Gained an interest in supplements and alternative medicine while researching and working in the field.  Many drugs and Doctors cure the symptom but fail to address the cause of the ailment.  In my personal life I am an active person who enjoys surfing and all things water related.

I’ve personally started taking the magnesium product myself and notice a huge difference in my sleep, mood and energy levels.

What are people saying about Tri-Mag?!

We have a private Facebook to help product support and this is what some of our customers had to say:
