Is it worth it, is it really worth it?
This is a question that I’ve thought about in the past, this is a question I’ve thought about quite often as of recently. Is it worth the time and effort put in to help change lives, to make a difference? Is it worth the emotion, the failure and even the successes that come along the way?
I recently received this incredible handwritten letter in the mail that talked about how much my work meant to them, how I inspire, motivate and set an example for not only them but the ‘rest of us’ as well.
Not too long ago I picked up a book called The Dip by the Great Seth Godin who talks about knowing when to quit. Knowing when to move on from a project or path, knowing when to push through and what will ultimately make all the difference in your life.
I’d say I do a good job of not paying attention to numbers much anymore, but they’re still there, I still see the numbers that come in. So I wonder, is it worth it to put up post after post, day after day, year after year, when a few might ‘like’ it, when a handful might see it.
Is it worth it to put out show after show for a few thousand knowing many reach hundreds of thousands with their shows. For the same reason is it worth it to send out newsletter after newsletter?
Those questions, those doubts became very clear after 1 sincere, heartfelt, handwritten letter.
Is it worth it, no question. It’s worth it.
If you can change 1 life, if you can pick up 1 piece of garbage after you leave the park, the beach or wherever you may be, isn’t it worth it? If you can make this world a better place for just a moment while you’re here, isn’t it worth it?
