Leaving my teaching career was one of the hardest decisions that I have ever made!! It meant leaving EVERYTHING I knew, EVERYTHING that was comfortable, EVERYONE that I loved.
Drew and I dreamed for years of travelling and working remotely. We dreamed that one day we would be able to pick-up and travel and bring work with us. Whether that be at our home in California, our home in Olds, in New Brunswick visiting family or around the globe. We just didn’t want to live tied down to one place.
We dreamed of FREEDOM. The Freedom to work anywhere we wanted.
To make our dream a reality, I had to let go of teaching. It’s not such a portable job now is it?!?!HAHA I have to admit, the thought did cross my mind to bring all my 25 grade one students with me on an extended field trip but MAN that would be a lot of paper workÂ
It took YEARS to build up the courage to follow my dream. It was Spring during my last year teaching when I reached a cross road. I was sitting at my desk on a Sunday afternoon planning my week and a flash of my life passing me by came flooding into my classroom. It was 20 years later and I was still sitting at my desk on a Sunday afternoon PLANNING!!! Still waiting for my Dream to HAPPEN.
It was at that point I decided I HAVE to do it. I have to take the leap. Although it felt more like jumping off a cliff than taking a leap.
It was so hard to let go. Let go of my financial freedom and step outside my comfort zone, let go of what felt familiar and walk down a path I’ve never been, let go of the ordinary and be extraordinary.
Let me get real with you…your dream is not going to fall on your lap one day. You aren’t going to wake up one day, jump out of bed and dance around in your PJs because your dream has arrived. Oh no, quite the contrary…you must WORK for your dream.
I don’t have the words to describe what it’s like waking up everyday living your dream. Knowing that all the sacrifices you made and continue to make to live your dream EVERY.SINGLE.DAY are paying off.
It certainly isn’t easy but the internal happiness that you feel is certainly worth it. Most search for their dream their whole entire life.
Don’t wait for the perfect time, don’t wait for all the stars to align, don’t wait for finances to be at their best, DO IT NOW!!!
Don’t wait another second. Rip that bandaid off and go create your DREAM. Live every second of everyday in eternal bliss.
Thank you.
You’re welcome!
WOW! Certainly convicting, or maybe I should rephrase you presented me with a challenge.
