What kind of oatmeal should you buy?

We hear quite often from people that they have trouble digesting oatmeal. This is usually a problem with the quality of oats people are consuming. Over the years oatmeal has been coined as a quick and easy healthy breakfast option but the problem is most oats are highly processed and pre-packed oatmeal is FULL of sugar and preservatives which can all contribute to poor digestion.

This isn’t the case for all oatmeal, we just need to be careful what kind of oatmeal we are consuming. When buying a good quality oatmeal it is actually a great source of protein, rich in vitamins and minerals, a great option for a complex carbohydrate, ideal for weight loss and maintaining healthy blood sugar levels.

The best option is organic rolled oats!! These will be in the purest form with no additives and no yucky chemical sprays used during the processing stage.

If you are new to cooking organic rolled oats you may find it’s a little tricky and takes a bit longer. Use the cooking tip below to help you prepare the perfect oatmeal.

Cooking tip: In a pot, Bring 2 cups of water and a pinch of himalayan salt to a boil. Add 1 cup organic rolled oats, reduce heat to low to simmer, and cook for 10-20 minutes depending on the consistency you desire. Stir occasionally. Cover and remove from heat and let stand for a few minutes.
