This one might be a tough one to digest, but I’ll say it anyway.
It would be nearly impossible (as much as I don’t like that word) to have tried everything out there when it comes to health: nutrition, fitness, etc.
What likely has happened is you’ve tried something that worked in the past, and then you tried it again, and it didn’t work now.
Most people have tried 2 or 3 things over and over again and it feels like you’ve tried everything. OR you’ve tried what worked 20 years ago, now…..and since that worked in the past and doesn’t work now, ‘nothing works’.
I went to Nashville and sat in a room with 100 other online fitness professionals and not a single one had the exact same program.
And that was only a small room! Consider how many fit pros are actually out there. Let’s say you tried 100 different programs and you stuck with them for a year each. Easy math… you guessed it — that’s 100 years of programs.
Cut that in half and say you stuck with them for 6 months, which is still a very short time to try something… and you have 50 years of different programs.
My point is, your mindset is holding you back from trying something else, when there is more out there than you could possibly even experiment with in a single lifetime.
You have a different team that offers different support. You have a different mindset and different philosophies. I can guarantee you MOST fit pros have very different ideas on what a proper and complete exercise program looks like.
And what’s more — nutrition is almost never even similar, let alone the same. Many don’t pay attention to rancid oils or toxins like sucralose. VERY few are well-versed in supplements — in fact, many won’t even recommend them, most likely because they don’t know much about them. But that’s for a different subject.
My point here is that, if you say “you’ve tried everything” and nothing works — what you mean is, the few things you’ve tried haven’t worked, and you don’t believe anything out there will work, which means you aren’t willing to try new things.
Yes, yes I know. That’s going to offend some. Not my intention. But if you really want change, if you really want to see a difference in your life, if you’re coachable at all, you have to realize that most of what’s holding you back is:
A. Your beliefs — mostly what someone told you that you hold as true.
B. Your actions (or rather, inactions) and willingness to try something.
I have people come to me all the time and say, “I’m interested in XXX,” and I say, “Are you willing to exercise, change your eating habits, etc.?” And MANY say, no — which means they have a very small chance of seeing any results without changing any actions.
So to wrap this up, if you are willing to try something different, you’ll first need to change your mindset and stop believing nothing will work for you and that you’ve tried everything out there.
And then — and only then — are you ready to change your actions, which will improve your situation and finally show you the results you’re hoping for.
If we can help, we’re only a message away! 💙
