I’ve received many awards growing up as an athlete, all very much different from this one. This is my first kind of ‘award’ from kids. It’s hard to explain…this seems more pure or real. That’s what kids are; they’re honest and real, if they don’t like something they tell you, if they do you’ll be sure to hear about it. They cry when they’re hurt (or when they think they are), they don’t hide it if they’re angry, and aren’t afraid to jump around and show everyone how excited they are.
This award the kids voted for didn’t have any biased opinion or influences, no politics, outside opinions and no hidden meaning or reason other than….that’s what they felt.
As small or large as this may be, it means a lot to me.
