Hate is such a strong word. Words have a life of their own. The word ‘hate’ has so many negative connotations, a negative energy or presence. I don’t think I really HATE anything, but for the sake of a simple word or getting my point across I’m going to use it in this post.
It’s phones that I want to write about. I hate phones. I don’t like talking on them and until just recently I hated using them in general. I just got a new phone that seems to do just about everything communication wise. I hate that I’m getting more used to a phone and hate that I’m using it more often. I hate that I’m starting to enjoy it and hate that I’m becoming like everyone else (or most).
I try to do things more efficient with just about everything I do. Not to mention to be original and think outside the box. Using a phone for certain thing makes some things easier, it makes some things more convenient and other things financially easier.
I hate that little kids have phones, that kids now ‘text’ instead of talking face to face or don’t knock on a door to see if their friend is home. I hate that ‘Hanging out’ now has more to do with a phone than actual doing so physically together. I hate that they have to pass laws so we don’t use them when we’re driving. I hate it when people are walking and texting, like whatever they have to say is too important to wait till they get to wherever they’re going.
Let’s talk about texting. At times there are benefits which I understand. I can stay in contact with friends across the country without paying for ‘minutes’. I can say ‘what’s up’ to some of my friends who I’d rarely call and see how they’re doing. You can have a quick conversation without saying much.
Nonetheless, I hate that technology is taking over and I hate relying on anything but in this case, being or staying in contact with someone only by use of a phone. I hate that we rely less on ourselves and more on a piece of equipment. I hate that some people think they can’t get by without their phones, and I hate that in some cases this could be true.
I hate that I feel like I have to write about this. And finally I hate the word HATE.
