With the cold weather here it’s important to keep our immune systems strong. I’ve made a short list of foods for you that’ll help you do just that.
- Camu camu has to be at the top of the list because of it’s incredibly high Vit. C content. You won’t find more vit. C in any other food on the planet! You’ll find this at your local health food store and it comes in a powder so you can use it in smoothies or sprinkle it on various other foods ie. oatmeal.
- Ginger, used in Chinese medicine four thousands of years has a ton of health benefits, most importantly for this post, it’s proven to help support the immune system. Buy fresh ginger and store it in the fridge, you can find it any grocery store, although usually passed up…go ahead and throw it in your card this time. You can add it to smoothies, stir fry’s and one of my persona favorites in tea.
- Although oranges are certainly not one of the highest sources of Vit. C that they are perceived to be, they’re definitely nutritious and do contain vit. C, what most don’t know is the health benefits of the orange peel with has more nutrients than the actual orange. The orange peel can be dried and used in tea or stir fry’s. I wrote a post with some health benefits which can be found here.
- You can find other fruits like kiwi and strawberries to have a ton of vitamin C in them.
- And don’t forget about garlic, how many other herbs have been written about for hundreds of years, right about this time. It’s halloween and not only is garlic wonderful for scaring away vampires but it can also help support your immune system. Garlic can be used in many different dishes for cooking.
- Lastly lets add Echinacea to the list. This can be found in pill or liquid for and is an incredible herbal remedy to aid is supporting the immune system.
Remember it’s always better to Prevent rather than React. Take steps now to support your immune system before you’re looking for remedies on how to Treat. Preventing colds are possible, don’t put your health on the bottom of the list. There will come a time when we realize ‘health’ is all that really matters.
