I’ve been feeling slightly under the weather the last couple days, not sick but not 100%. It seems that for whatever reason everyone has or had something it would be hard not to catch something with everyone around you not feeling well. Hard to believe also with the nice weather we are having. I don’t get sick very often but when I do it seems like it lasts forever. Many times when we are stressed out or our bodies are run down our immune systems are lowered and we get sick.
I’m sure everyone feels this from time to time, the trick is to catch it before it goes anywhere. I would like to share with you a few things I do that keep me healthy and stop viruses before it’s a full blown…”I’m sick”.
First of all I made sure I drank plenty of water, more than usual. It’s important to flush out everything that shouldn’t be there. I broke my multi vitamin in two and had one in the morning in one in the evening, and did the same with 1000mg of Vit.C. I took 5000mg of Echinacea 3 X a day and made sure I had an extra serving of each before I went to bed.
In a previous blog I wrote about Miso soup. It’s proven to strengthen the immune system unlike good old fashion chicken soup. So I had Miso soup every day. Finally I added a little extra garlic to my salad, which is also known to strengthen the immune system.
It’s important to note that I didn’t miss a meal. Many times when we are feeling under the weather we don’t feel like eating. I think food heals and helps in so many categories. Most importantly it heals your muscles for you regular exercisers. I felt that missing the regular nutrients my body gets would only make me feel worse, so I made sure I had a little extra.
That’s it, I was feeling a little run down the last couple of days so I followed the above suggestions and today I’m back to normal. I hope some of this helps when you aren’t feeling like your regular self.
