  1. I started working with Drew in February 2009. I had never been to the gym in my life before and was dealing with a shoulder injury as well as a lot of stress due to the recent loss of my husband. Drew had incredible patience and a great ability to read my moods and direct the work out to suit my emotional needs and he was able to gradually move my shoulder to a complete recovery. He always challenged me to move to new physical levels but always kept my emotional needs in mind. As I progressed he challenge me to change my diet as well and I was able to learn a lot by attending his nutritional meetings. His client base has allowed us to develop a supportive network of other people who are each working on their own set of goals but are able to support each other. Drew provided that connection and encourage us to meet and support each other. Drew was able to bring me to a new level of physical, emotional, and nutritional health. I would highly recommend him for anyone no matter what your fitness level is.

  2. I met Drew at a time in my life when the circumstances of life left me feeling angry, alone and disheartened with life. I was emotionally drained, overweight, a true yo-yo dieter, and an exercise phobic. My first call to Drew was at the encouragement of a friend, who worked with Drew, she actually dialed the phone for me and spoke to Drew so I couldn’t chicken out! Eleven weeks later I proudly say I am 19 pounds lighter and wearing a size 8, down from a size 12! More importantly, I can say that I am happy again, full of positive energy and loving life. I give Drew credit for this! His passion, attention to detail, knowledge of fitness and nutrition, as well as his commitment to each and every client makes the experience a positive one. Drew gives so much of himself to his training that it makes it easy to give the effort back. His ability to personalize to my life has been amazing, and the results show on the scale, the tape measure and in my day to day happiness. He not only helps me to set goals, but also to achieve them! I have often told Drew he is my favorite cheerleader!

  3. As odd as it may sound, I thought being slim meant being healthy. I considered my choices of food and exercise regime healthy. However, after meeting Drew and getting to know Drew it was soon brought to my attention that I was not as healthy or physically fit as I should be. I did not eat breakfast, which is apparently the most important meal of the day, I was not eating complete meals and my resting heart rate was 90-112 bpm at age 26. I did not feel cardio was important because I felt that I was getting enough cardio while lifting weights, again I was incorrect and mislead in the past. After only months of learning this information I put on healthy weight. I know most people want to loose weight but that was not my case. I had a borderline unhealthy weight. With Drew’s guidance and encouragement I feel happier and healthier and I am proud to say that my resting heart rate is now 65-78 bpm.

  4. My name is Colin. I am 13 years old and I am a hockey player. I had received a letter before summertime, asking me to tryout for a city AAA and AA hockey team. Being asked was awesome but knowing they would only take 5 import players (if they wanted them), and strongly suggesting that all try out players be in top physical shape, I knew I needed some help. I joined the gym and hooked up with Drew. Drew came up with various exercises to help me maintain my endurance, build my strength, and work on my balance. Near the end of summer I was even running with a parachute. When I went to tryouts, I was one of the more physically fit players and managed to get through the grueling workouts. I’m proud to say I’m a first year imported player for the Airdrie AA Bantam team. Thanks Drew!

  5. “I met Drew at the gym about a year ago. He was wearing a Breast Cancer Walk Shirt (same as mine) and even though I’m usually quite shy, I just had to ask him about the shirt. He had done the walk with his mom. The same walk as I had done. So cool, we had something in common. At first we kind of just passed by each other most days, like I said, I am shy and well Drew seemed to be too!

I’m not even sure what got us talking but I started to ask him about some exercises. I was going on a cruise in January and really wanted to be able to wear that bikini. I had at this point in my Journey lost about 35 pounds. In 2003 I weighed 162 pounds. I was down to about 123 pounds and still had lots of work to do. I did some of the exercises and found that I was toning up but the weight fluctuated 5 or 6 pounds on a regular basis.

As we worked together more we became less shy. I was reading books to try to make sense of life (men) and most days Drew had something positive to say about anything we talked about. Ok he was always positive. He was reading a book that I was interested in getting sometime and he just said “it’s here, read it when you want to.”

I did wear that bikini in January but knew there was more work to be done. I was in a crappy time of my life. Working 4 jobs and trying to figure out where I wanted to be and who I wanted to be. I was tired all the time and I felt old. In March (I think it was March) Drew asked me if I wanted to work out with him. I thought sure why not. Then I started to talk to him more about my goals. I shared some “before” pictures of when I was very large. He said he would set up a program for me. I followed the program and tried to change my eating habits. In April 2009 I started to write down everything I ate. Drew looked at it and offered some suggestions. My workouts were not consistent. I had trouble staying on task.

I sent Drew and email very frustrated and very sad about life.

Drew offered me one suggestion: Hire me.

So I did. We worked out two days a week. I did cardio 3 days a week. I noticed changes and set a new goal. We changed my cardio to 5 days a week. Set my goal date for September 25, 2009. I kept a food journal and wrote down everything I ate and drank. I played ball, worked my four jobs, managed to prepare all my meals for the week and took control of my life.

I worked hard and kept my appointments with Drew, as he did with me. I made myself accountable. To me.

He encouraged me. He supported me and gave me heck when I needed it.

I was almost at my goal when he told me he was leaving. He would be gone in body but still here for me in spirit and (on line) He would see me through to my goal.

I can remember running for the first time since he left and I just pretended he was standing there beside me. He was.

On September 29th I was 1/2 lb under my goal weight. 111 ½ pounds I was even on holidays when I reached this goal.

Drew was there beside me all the way. Getting to where I wanted to be was not about dieting: it is about life changes. A combination of eating, exercising and being at peace with yourself. If anyone asks about how I did it, I tell them, hard work, persistence and Drew.

His knowledge of fitness and nutrition is amazing and if he doesn’t know the answer, he will find it out for you. Not only did I loose the weight I wanted to, but I became fit, I eat healthy, I feel good and most importantly, I gained a really good friend.

When I found out about True Form it brought tears to my eyes to see Drew take a dream that he has and make it a reality. He has given me a second chance at life.

There are not too many moms (oops did I mention I have a granddaughter) out there who can hang out with their kids and have their friends hang out too and say that their mom looks great! I do look great and I feel even better. Would I have done this without True Form or Drew? I think not. It was just the push I needed to do what I had to do to get on with life.

Thank you Drew and thank you True Form

  6. When I met Drew, I had just started to compete in thai boxing. Thai boxing being such a high intensity sport, I quickly realised I needed more fitness knowledge to perform in the ring as well as I wanted.

Unlike many personal trainers who have a set program supposed to work for anyone, Drew really took the time to understand the particularities of my sport. He asked me a lot of questions about my current training, my diet, my mental state before a fight, etc.

The first thing we acted on was my diet. Drew made me realised how important a good diet is in an athlete’s life…I wasn’t eating quiet enough for the physical effort I was doing 6 times a week. By following Drew’s nutrition advice, I quickly felt more energetic and able to train with more intensity.

The second area we focused on was my fitness. While I won my first fight, I felt really puffed by the 3rd round and I knew this was an area Drew could help me with. I had 5 weeks to get ready for my 2nd fight and Drew designed a personalised program to help me get ready. The program combined fitness, foot work, strengthening, stretching, resistance and core muscles exercises. It was varied which made it more exciting…I quickly felt my muscles getting leaner and stronger. My kicks were getting faster and harder.

I followed Drew’s program to the letter, never missed a session. I knew Drew had spent time understanding my needs and designing something personalised and the minimum I could do was to trust his expertise and be disciplined.

In the weeks leading up to the fight, Drew was very present to answer my questions, work on my uncertainties and give me confidence. He helped me realise that we all are stronger, faster, more efficient when our body and mind are relaxed.

I won my 2nd fight! I am now getting ready for more and guess what? I am still following Drew’s program!! Drew taught me things that will serve me for the rest of my life and that is priceless! Thank you Drew!

  7. I meet Drew when I moved on the Gold Coast in April 2010 . He was leaving the room I was going to occupy. My new flatmates told me afterwards that Drew is a Personnel trainer and that he could be with some help for my knee rehabilitation.

I broke my anterior cruciate ligament while Kitesurfing, I had surgery in November 2009 and I met Drew 5 month after my surgery.
Since my knee operation I had a few rehabilitation session with a physical therapist but as I wanted to get back into surfing I needed to build up my muscle to avoid any further injuries.

I explained to Drew my post operation rehabilitation exercises in details. At that point Drew was really helpful because I needed someone to guide me with my further rehabilitation exercises.
Drew had a previous experience with a client that I had exactly the same injury and in that context he was really helpful to answer all my interrogations.

The rehabilitation process of an broken ligament is long and slow and need to be done seriously in order to avoid any further injuries.
Not only did Drew provided me with good advices and a series of exercises for my muscle reconstruction, but he also help me to gain confidence in me for the sport I was doing which is also an important part of the rehabilitation process.

Drew frequently sent me e-mails to follow my progress and he was also very reactive with my interrogation providing my with comments and advices on my rehabilitation progress.

It’s been almost a year now since my surgery and I feel much more confident on my balance, on my strength and I can really feel the progress I did the last months. Thanks again Drew for your follow up and your encouragements!

  8. I started working with Drew in June of 2011. He approached all the girls at my work, and asked if we would be interested in a weight loss challenge. We are all intrigued and jumped at the chance! I was nervous, as I didn’t know what it was going to be like, but I am proud to say I haven’t looked back. Drew came along at the perfect time. I had my daughter in Feb 2010, and still hadn’t lost that annoying baby weight. I was beginning to feel extremely low and down on myself. I hated shopping, and was almost to the point where I couldn’t look in the mirror. I started doing the outdoor workouts with Drew, three times a week, and have completely revamped my eating habits. I am proud to say 3 ½ months later, I am down 17.2lbs and numerous inches. I’m not stopping there either!

Drew is fantastic in the sense that you know you can count on him. He will answer any question about fitness or nutrition; even the ones you may think are silly! He has a way of encouraging and motivating you to keep going, and to continue bettering yourself. Drew has taught me the importance of goals, and of saying “I can” instead of “I can’t, or I’ll try”. I have realized that I CAN do this, and I will continue on this path. I don’t ever want to look back. I am much more confident now, and I actually enjoy shopping! It was extremely liberating to get rid of numerous pairs of pants that fall off of me now!

When I first thanked Drew for coming along, he told me the quote “When the student is ready, the teacher will appear”. I was ready, and he appeared! I can’t thank him enough, and I have already told him he’s stuck with me now!
I found this quote the other day and it fits perfectly:

“Far from what I once was, but not yet what I’m going to be”

If I can do this, anyone can!

  9. Before joining True Form I would cringe at the mere thought of “working” out. I thought it was painful, awkward, grueling and just plain no fun. In June, I received an invite to attend one of True Form’s fitness classes with Drew. I ‘m always up for trying new things but thought it would just be another one time workout. To my surprise, I walked away from the first class feeling inspired, motivated and encouraged to continue. I knew that I needed to make changes in my life but it wasn’t until this point that my outlook on fitness started to shift and I was beginning to make the changes in my life that I always wanted to.

With little experience working out I was nervous but Drew’s calm approach made me feel comfortable and relaxed. Because Drew tailors the exercises according to your own personal needs and level I didn’t feel intimidated like I had in past experiences. As a beginner, I felt like I could keep up and I didn’t feel lost. The atmosphere was very calm, relaxed, non-judgmental and most importantly FUN! Drew helped me believe that I could do it and I developed a whole new level of confidence.

Even though prior to joining True Form I had little experience working out, I always considered myself an active person: running, yoga, swimming, hiking etc. but I was becoming very discouraged because no matter how active I was I never managed to meet my fitness goals. Drew taught me that it’s not just about how active you are, it’s a combination of working out and healthy eating. Once I changed my eating habits and stayed consistent with exercise I quickly noticed changes in myself that I never thought possible. I lost inches, I became stronger, I was gaining muscle tone, I developed more confidence, I had more energy, I was excited and motivated about exercising and I actually thought it was fun! The most inspirational experience for me was when I bought a pair of jeans in the smallest size that I had ever bought! It’s such a great feeling when your pants just keep getting looser and looser.

If someone would have told me four months ago that I would see the results I’ve been looking for in years in this short amount of time I probably wouldn’t have believed them. Through a combination of healthy eating and exercise I received the results I had been always looking for. I’ve come a long way and I don’t plan on stopping here.

  10. I began working with Drew in January of 2013. I had gained a considerable amount of weight in my first 2 years of College. After my first semester of my 3rd year, I began feeling less confident, and uncomfortable in my own body. My weight gain had really started to bother me, and I knew I had to do something about it. This is when I met Drew. After my first session with Drew, I already felt motivated, and knew that he would be able to get me on the right track. We began working out together twice a week. During our workouts we would chat about my nutrition, and my goals for the future. Drew took the time to explain to me how important nutrition was in my goal of achieving weight loss and getting healthy. Drew understood that my school environment played a big role on my dietary choices. Instead of insisting I cut out all the bad things I knew I was eating, (like I had assumed would happen), Drew explained to me that cutting back can be the best way to start. This slow process of eliminating and adding different products from my diet is easy to stick to, and has helped me out a lot. Although I only worked one on one with Drew for a short period of time, I found the motivation I needed and gained a lot of knowledge I had not known before. Drew introduced me to Quinoa, and I have been hooked ever since. As I continue to make small changes to my lifestyle, I know the tips and the time spent with Drew will help contribute to me reaching my weight loss, and health goals. Everyone comes into your life for a reason, and I have Drew to thank for helping me find the motivation I needed to get back on track. Thanks Drew!
