No so long ago I posted pics of a triathlon here in Hamburg.  Well a couple months ago we had our own tri-athlete compete in a triathlon.  Her name is Ute Mildenstein and she is an original member of True Form.  I could explain but the local newspaper had their own interview.

Ute Mildenstein can scratch triathlon off her bucket list.

The 67 year old was clocked at 1:40 during the swim, bike and walk event sunday.  It was the Highland Primary Care Network’s first triathlon in Didsbury and Carstairs.

I was really proud of how I did out there, and now I can cross it off my list”, Mildenstein said as she dished up food to hungry athletes.  “There are things I want to do before I turn 70.  I have ridden horses and gone mountain climbing but I have never done this before.”

Ute could be the most active person I know, period. At 67 she walks her dog, rides her bike, rides horses, goes to the gym (both cardio and resistance training), often all in one day. And she does these things while she she isn’t running a triathlon or climbing a mountain.

Thank you Ute.  You are the kind of person that gives people hope, you give inspiration.  You set an example that goals are possible at any age or circumstance. I am very proud of you. I feel privileged to have met you and had the opportunity to work with you.

We can all learn something from Ute and for that we should all be grateful.
