I’ve been working with this new machine, it’s called a Hypervibe, whole body vibration platform.  I’ll give more details later but for the sake of what I’d like to write I’ll skip them for now.  Briefly the machine works on gravity, yes it vibrates and yes it actually works.  The problem is the industry is cluttered with less than par machines, actually the industry is filled with garbage (that don’t work) so weeding out the better machines tends to be quite challenging.  On top of that all vibration machines get put in the same category.  “oh, I’ve seen one of those”, “oh, those are the weight loss machines, you stand on them and are supposed to make you lose weight”.  So part of the people actually believe these claims but the majority think they’re a joke.  Which is believable on my end.  If someone told me I could stand on something and it would help me lose weight I’d think it was a joke too.  In fact I looked at these machines a couple years ago and quickly dismissed them.  So as I’m a athlete, I’m a fan- as I’m a in sales, I’m a customer and as I’m a trainer, I’m a client (especially because I’m sure I learn more from my clients than they learn from me).

What we deal with at the moment is a competitor actually telling people they will lose weight if they stand on their machine for a few minutes.  How do you compete with that?  I don’t mean their company I mean the industry.  This statement waters down the industry, it makes all vibration machines seem like a joke, which theirs certainly is.  Their machine cannot produce the results they claim, to me that’s a joke.  I don’t understand how you could look someone in the face and blatantly lie to them to make a sale.  I suppose it happens all the time even without sales, but I have to blame the consumer a little bit here.  I mean, com’on  people, really?!  Would you believe anything you hear?  I had this young lady come up to me CONVINCED (by this other company) she could lose weight and all she had to do was stand on the machine.  What I told her was, if there was a miracle anything, that all you had to do was stand there and you lose weight, don’t you think everyone would have one, don’t you think obesity would no longer be a factor?  You have no idea how hard it was to change her mind, in fact, I’m almost certain I didn’t.  I bet what she did was go back to the other place where they made some ridiculous claim to get her the results she wanted, and bought that one.

All I can say about this and situations like it, most times in life if you don’t put something in, you don’t get anything out.  In fact, most times you get exactly back of what you put in.  Don’t believe everything you read or hear, try before you buy and if someone is telling you something too good to be true, it usually is.
