Falling Off the Wagon

So I’m back on the meditation train again. The truth is I love the feeling of meditation and being alone with my thoughts. More truth, it’s hard for me to make myself do it.

So I go through times where I do it everyday for a week or two feel fantastic and then forget about it. Let me know if this sounds familiar?

I think at times it’s scary being alone with your thoughts. Especially when the world seems upside down which is when we need it the most.

I don’t really beat myself up about not meditating, I know the benefits, I know the mental clarity and I know how great it makes me feel. But still I struggle to do in on a consistent basis.

Again, I go from everyday for a month, then nothing, then back on the horse for a week or two, then nothing. But the fact is, I get back up, I dust myself off and try again.

And I think that’s the hardest part. When it comes to nutrition and fitness it’s natural and normal to fall off. It’s not so normal to get back up and try again. Many people quit and never try again…..or actually many don’t try at all.

And I’m not talking about ‘weight loss diets’, I’m not talking about weekend fasts or cleanses. I’m talking about putting in the work, working out day after day, meal planning and grocery shopping.

That’s the real work and that’s where real results come in. I think we forget that it takes work and I also think many of us don’t know it’s normal to fall off which means we have to try again.

Falling Off the Wagon

Over the last few days I’ve been meditation for 10 mins in the morning and 10 mins in the evening. I’ve been sleeping better, I’ve been more focused, I’ve been happier and my goals are very very clear both short term and long term (which is partly what I meditate on).

So if you fall off your nutrition program get back up, if you fall off the workout wagon, dust yourself off and get back at it. Because that’s what this journey is all about. Results will come, we know we should, we struggle with the how.

So find a coach, find a mentor, a friend or group. Anyone that can help you get back up and keep pushing forward.

Because we’ve all been there, and at least for me I’ll continue to be there until I ‘get it’ and can make meditation part of my life not week or month.

So once again, trust me, you’re not alone. We’re in this struggle together…..
