I don’t have time….I thought about saying I haven’t had time to write more blogs, then I was thinking about time.  It’s funny to me when people say they don’t have time, they can’t find the time…..there is never enough time.  But when you think about it, there’s always time.  Time is one of the very few constants.  There are the same amount of minutes in every day.  There are the same amount of weeks and months, minutes and hours, when we consider time.  That never changes; so when you think about it….there is always time.  You can’t stop it, you can’t make it go faster, you can’t erase time or make it disappear.  Time is always there.  It’s there when you sleep, and are awake, it’s there no matter what you’re doing, an enjoyable activity or not.  Sometimes it seems to go slower or faster but inevitable no matter how you spin it, time is always there, it’s always constant.

What it comes down to is priorities.  This blog isn’t directed at anyone in particular, we all have things we’d rather do or commitments that take presidence over something else.  I’m only talking about time here.  Let’s take our kids for example, most times they are more important, and that’s the way it should be.  So when you want to do something else but you have committed to your child you haven’t run out of time, you have prioritized.  You’ve made the decision that one thing is more important than another.

So when someone says, would you like to do this, and you say I have no time.  That’s not really the truth.  That either means you’re making something up because you don’t want to do it or you have other priorities.  I understand that’s it’s not politically correct or polite to say, well actually I have other priorities or I have something more important going on.

My goal here is to bring out the obvious but not so obvious.  Some people actually think they run out of time.  I know I have.  Seems like there’s never enough time in the day.  But in reality there is, we just choose to: do what we’d rather do, do what’s more important, or do what we’ve committed to.

It doesn’t matter what the subject is or what you’d like to do.  So let’s take exercising for example.  I deal with a lot of people that either put themselves last or don’t put themselves at all.  The only way to get around time is to put yourself first (I know it’s not always that easy), although you can at least not put yourself last on the list.  How’s that for a start?  Maybe slowly gradually let yourself climb the list.  Talk to anyone that’s become a fitness competitor, maybe someone in great shape who’s kids are grown, or someone that’s made any drastic change after years of being the same way.  I can tell you exactly what they’d say.  They’d say, I stopped putting myself last, I realized I deserve it, I realized I’m worth it, I made a decision and commitment to myself and followed through with it.  And I can just about guarantee once they made that choice, once they prioritized and realized there is time, they are 100% happier.
