The last few weeks showed in every way last night, it could be clearly seen how much of a toll the road to get here took. They couldn’t wait to get on the field. We played a team that was fresh and ready to go after having the last series off because they finished in first place.
The energy was low as was the morale. One of our best hitters was gone and I couldn’t grip a bat leaving two holes in the top of the lineup. Our pitcher showed signs of a tired arm in the first inning as they scored early and for the first few innings. We showed little life with the bats and were about as sharp defensively.
It was hard to watch the team struggle through the first game of the finals as I am used to standing next to them for the last 6 months. It wasn’t possible for me to be on the field yesterday, it will be difficult to get out there tomorrow but I don’t plan on watching. We’ll have to win the next one to force the last elimination game of the season.
Tomorrow night we’ll see if there’s any hope left for the road warriors.
Bob popped his head out a week or so ago when I couldn’t post pictures. Maybe he’s just what we need.
