I apologize for the delay. The season is over and I’ve taken a few days to gather myself.
The last game didn’t go very well. We used everything we had to get to the finals and had nothing left. I wouldn’t take anything away from the other team, they played well and deserved to win. We beat them twice in the regular season and they beat us twice so you could say we were pretty even. Playoffs were a different story, they out matched us in every way. It might have been a different story if we were at full strength but as I said they won, they earned it and they deserved it.
I played the last game and played well, the same as I have for the majority of the season. It might have not been the best decision, my hand has been worse off because of it the last couple days, but it will get better. Me playing didn’t change the outcome but I felt it was something I had to do, for both the team and myself. I’m a fan first and then an athlete second. Sometimes it’s not good enough for a good player to go down with an injury in a key moment when the team needs them. I had to know what it was like to play through something like that. Once my hand heals I’m sure I’ll be better off for it in the long run. I learned that other parts of your body picks up the slack when other parts are lacking. I felt like both my vision and focus was better at the plate even though I had little strength in one hand.
I want to thank everyone for their kind messages about the season and my injury. It’s times like this when I’m most grateful for all of the support I receive from you. I certainly wouldn’t have been able to play or get through the game without your messages in the back of my mind. The thank you I offer doesn’t come close to how much I appreciate all of you being there for and with me.
It was a good season, difficult but good. I learned may things about myself as I do as each season that passes. I met some good people, friends that I’ll stay in touch with and have had an experience I couldn’t have imagined.
What’s next for me….time will tell. As soon as I make a decision or have set plans I will post it.
Thanks again everyone.
