Recently I had a nice reality check come my way.
I’ve been very fortunate with how things have been going for me. When I started out with classes, there was a couple weeks with just me wondering if or when people would show up, then there was one, two and it picked up from there. (See a previous blog where I wrote the whole story). For the most part (along with ups and downs) I’d say we average around double digits for people that attend OUR classes.
Then all of a sudden we had one person show up, there were other things going on, but nonetheless one person attended the class. It was cold and rainy and of course and number of other reasons as to why there was one but once again, nonetheless there was one. No coincidence this person has lost 25lbs since we started working together.
But I guess the reality check was something that I needed. It made me appreciate how far I’ve come and the one or a few was much less likely now than 11 or 13 or 15. I thank my members after every class for showing up because I truly am grateful for everyone that shows up any time they can.
I try to always say OUR class or WE, because without them there is no class, it’s just me. I wouldn’t have been able to accomplish an inch of what I’ve been able to without members.
I remember what it was like when there was only me waiting and wondering. And I know at any time it could be just me again. So I’ll take the reality checks when they come and appreciate every day when it’s not.
