Blogs are a funny thing. Blogs are relatively new.
When I first started out writing blogs I wanted people to see what I’m doing, I wanted people to know it’s possible to follow your dreams, I wanted people to be inspired and learn and see a different perspective on life.
When I first started writing I tried to keep a group together which wasn’t right, people should be able to make their own choice, even without outside encouragement. I tried to get people to read and watch and comment. All a stressful situation at the time but nothing I’d take back.
I used to read a couple blogs, I still do from time to time but almost simultaneously these two blogs I read often, gave reasons as to why I shouldn’t read blogs, even their own. I’m sure it wasn’t their intention but it made me think, if they’re writing a whole blog, giving reasons as to why I shouldn’t pay attention to what they had to say, then why would I?
When I write blogs I don’t write for you, I write for me. I know that sounds like a selfish statement, but that’s the truth and if you have any idea about what I’m about, truth comes first. Hence ‘True Form’. I don’t mean being rude or saying things that don’t need to be said, I mean…being real. Just be real people!
It takes so much effort to try to be someone you’re not. It takes effort to put up a front, to pretend (all in which most people can see right through). Trust me I know, I’ve spent a lot of years trying to be someone I wasn’t and when the time came to let that guard down and I could be myself for myself it was like a huge weight being lifted off my shoulders.
But don’t think I don’t appreciate every person that reads a word that I have to say. I still want to inspire, I want to show that you can think outside the box. We don’t have to be like everyone else. When I hear people reads my blogs it makes me want to write more (which is actually why I’m writing right now). I hope to give you something (if only perspective) that you’ve haven’t thought of or done. That’s why I write.
I write for myself because it helps me deal with situations. I think A LOT and writing things down makes me feel better. This way I don’t have to hold on to thoughts or feelings or anger. I don’t hold onto anger or frustration. If I have a problem I write it down (weather it’s public or not), if I want to share something I write it down. Writing is medicinal in many ways. We should all write. I’d imagine if we all did we’d have much less angry people in this world, much less people that hold onto things, hold onto the past and aren’t able to move on.
I don’t ask anymore who reads my blogs, I don’t hope people see or hear what I have to say, I don’t have a stat tracker or ask for comments…been there, done that.
I have a friend that would tell me, ‘do your deed and let go of the rest’. Some of the best advise I’ve ever gotten. We’re like that though aren’t we? Obsessed with results, obsessed with the scale, obsessed with how people respond (or don’t) or worry more about what people think than what we think ourselves. Meanwhile the actual deed we don’t see is extraordinary. Extraordinary is just that EXTRA ORDINARY. Regular people doing extraordinary things is extra ordinary. We put all that on the back burner when all we do is focus on the results.
If I could offer one piece of advise I’d say do one thing for yourself everyday and don’t worry about the outcome. Do your deed and let go of the rest.
