I’m pretty fortunate to work in an industry that, more times than not, increases motivation.  We talk about goals and accomplishments, celebrating little successes, and making better choices with each decision.

It’d say it’s much easier being motivated as an athlete, you know exactly what you want, that desire grows into a monster where at times you become obsessed with getting better, seeing results and achieving whatever it is you set out to accomplish.  If you’re not an athlete (meaning not involved with organized sports, which is a horrible generalization), you’re in a whole different category.  You have to find internal motivation.  Things that push you, whether it’s weight or health or small goals and challenges you set for yourself.

I was surrounded by elite athletes for much of my life, elite meaning those that want to be the best, those that have that internal motivation of ‘competition’.  At this time in my life I’m surrounded by everyday people (check out who we are in this video clip ).  One’s not better than the other, in fact I have a whole new respect for the mom, for the career orientated person, for those that are athletes on the side if you will.

I’m surrounded by those that climb mountains as a goal (I wish I had a pic, I’m talking real mountains), those that keep moving forward in pain and those that wake up to run without a second thought.   These people motivate me, at this time they are my internal and external motivation.  If fact, I was encouraged to do this 6KM run with obstacles which actually inspired me to start running every morning.

For those two and the others that motivate me every day with incredible feats; weather it’s mountains, staying in a fitness program for 6 + months,  or pushing forward when it seems like there is nothing left…..

I couldn’t be more grateful you came into my life.
