We as humans are creatures of habit. We sleep on the same side of the bed, sit on the same side of the breakfast table and most likely use the same piece of cardio equipment (if it’s not taken) every time we go to the gym.
Going through the motions dragging your self to the gym day after day for the only reason of the guilt you have if you don’t go, gets so boring. You are bored, your muscles get bored and we don’t see the changes we should by consistantley following our exercise program.
There are a few things can do to change it up. Instead of doing cardio before or after your weights, mix in a circuit day. Your goal is to keep your heart rate up the whole session by doing some sort of cardio in between each set of exercises. This is a great way to burn fat and changes up your routine.
Most of us do the same exercise in the same order. If you don’t want to change your exercises all together (which would be another great option), change up the sequence of your exercises. This keeps your muscles guessing, changing themselves and having to adapt to a different routine.
Many times the reason we aren’t getting the results we want or hit a plateau is because of adaptation. When we lift weights our muscles break down. Once they have been given a chance to rest they rebuild and grow so the next time stress is placed on them, they will be able to adapt to the same kind of pressure. Our bodies are very good at adapting to different things which is why we need to continue to change things up especially in the gym. Not only to keep our interest but also to continue to reach our goals.
Change it up, and enjoy your brand new results!
