A while ago a friend of mine (we’ll call her Jessica in this write up) paid for a service from a professional public figure type (let’s call her Lisa); now I didn’t care much for this person from the get go, and this will be a type of venting so excuse me (but at least you were warned :)), but a story I feel beneficial and necessary to share. Lisa is one of those people that think they’re bigger than they are, they’ve been the best at what they do for some time now and they act like it. More so meaning they aren’t easily approachable, have strict or odd types of protocol and aren’t someone I’d call a ‘real’ person.
So anyways, a substantial amount of money was paid by Jessica to this public figure type (Lisa) to help them out. It turned out, half way through the session Lisa stopped booking appointments with Jessica, not only that but she avoided phone calls and didn’t respond to multiple emails, even though it was clear through her facebook page (it’s hard to lie when your life is posted on facebook) that she was still doing what she was paid for, for others.
So time passes, the event Jessica paid Lisa to prepare her for is over and….stay with me, this is hard to believe, 5 MONTHS later Lisa emails Jessica, offers a very short unapologetic email, asks Jessica when she’d like to book again and if she doesn’t there will be an extra ‘cancellation fee’.
I’m not an angry person, and I wouldn’t say I get upset all that easily but this right here is preposterous. 3 inches from her face I’d like to scream ARE YOU KIDDING ME! Now the worst part is, Jessica, bless her heart, is the least confrontation person I know, she’d never steal or lie or deceive anyone, and this is the treatment she receives. On top of that you have Lisa who I believe as a public figure type, has not only an obligation but a responsibility to treat their fans and customers in a different way, a better type of way if you will simply because of who they are.
It angers me that Lisa thinks this kind of behavior is okay, it bugs me because she thinks she can treat people like this because of who she is but more than anything I’m annoyed because she’s done it before and she’ll do it again. To me this is stealing money in a non-illegal type of way. It’s like she prey’s on innocent victims knowing full well the people that hire her are likely her fans, and she treats them like this?
The problem is, is Jessica or the other Jessica’s out there, and I know that doesn’t sound quite right, at first glance I’d hope we’d all think Lisa is the problem, but it’s not because Jessica accepts this type of behavior, she accepts being treated this way by the Lisa’s of this world. Lisa was conditioned to act this, to treat people this way. Because of her success others have allowed her to get away with her blatantly stealing from them. Would you honestly believe this is the first time Lisa acted this way, would you think she wouldn’t do it again? The fact of the matter is, when Lisa started treating people like this Jessica accepted it so Lisa continued on with similar behavior for I can only guess years.
As I talked about in last weeks posts (controversial or hard to understand) I tried to express, we get what we accept out of this life. If we accept being treated like a doormat you can bet others will see that and more ‘users’ will come. If you don’t accept less, you if expect more of yourself, if you treat yourself as the higher being you are, people like Lisa will avoid you because they’ll sense their behavior which may be all they know won’t be accepted. Now Jessica, I feel, has the obligation to stand up, say what isn’t right, if not for herself but for the next person that comes into Lisa’s life whom may be treated this way.
(As much as I’d like to publicly point my finger at Lisa and at times I wish I was that person who doesn’t have a problem mentioning names, publicly calling people out (which I don’t have a problem with privately) and letting EVERYONE know what kind of person Lisa is. But that’s not me, I won’t lower myself to name calling or a social media war of words. Both Lisa and Jessica’s real names will remain confidential).
